The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead nursing and midwifery services within Sligo/Leitrim Disability Services. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a highly skilled nurse manager with proven experience in Intellectual Disability Services, offering the chance to influence service quality, governance, and strategic development across the region.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership and professional direction for nursing and midwifery services within Disability Services
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred care
• Lead workforce planning, service development, and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain strong clinical governance, risk management, and compliance with HSE policies
• Manage budgets, resources, and performance targets effectively
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
• Support, mentor, and develop nursing leadership teams across services
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse with active registration on the NMBI register
• Significant senior management experience within Intellectual Disability Services
• Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, and service development expertise
• Strong knowledge of clinical governance, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements
• Excellent communication, organisational, and people-management skills
• Relevant postgraduate qualification in management or healthcare leadership is desirable
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary Scale (Director of Nursing Band 2A – 1 August 2025):
€87,533 – €96,910 per annum (7-point scale, plus applicable long service increments)
• Contract options include:
– Permanent Whole-time / Part-time
– Specified Purpose Whole-time / Part-time
• Public service pension scheme, annual leave, and professional development opportunities
• Salary and conditions are in line with Department of Health consolidated pay scales
