Job Overview
This Director of Nursing 4 Assistant role is a senior leadership opportunity within the HSE West and North West region, supporting the delivery and governance of high-quality Older Persons services across Sligo and Leitrim. You will work closely with executive nursing leadership to drive clinical excellence, service improvement, and staff development in a complex healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Support strategic leadership and operational management of Older Persons services
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality, and patient safety frameworks
• Lead and mentor nursing management teams and multidisciplinary colleagues
• Drive service improvement initiatives aligned with HSE priorities
• Ensure compliance with national policies, standards, and regulations
• Participate in workforce planning, performance management, and resource optimisation
• Deputise for the Director of Nursing as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse with current registration on the NMBI register
• Significant senior nursing management experience
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Older Persons care
• Proven leadership, governance, and change-management capability
• Strong communication, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience working within large public health service settings (desirable)
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: In line with HSE Director of Nursing 4 – Assistant (Grade 2913) consolidated public sector pay scales (effective 1 August 2025)
• Contract: Permanent, whole-time
