An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 – Upper Gastrointestinal Care at Galway University Hospital. This role is ideal for an experienced gastrointestinal or colorectal nurse seeking to advance their clinical leadership career within a major acute teaching hospital.

The successful candidate will provide expert clinical leadership, service development, and high-quality patient-centred care within Upper GI services.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical and professional leadership to nursing staff within Upper GI services
• Coordinate and manage patient pathways for gastrointestinal and colorectal care
• Ensure high standards of evidence-based nursing practice and patient safety
• Support education, audit, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
• Contribute to service planning, workforce management, and performance monitoring
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Significant post-registration nursing experience, including depth and breadth of experience in gastrointestinal/colorectal care
• Demonstrated leadership and management experience at senior clinical level
• Have undertaken or agree to undertake within an agreed timeframe:
– Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate
– Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation Certificate
• Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills

• Salary Scale (HSE – Aug 2025): €61,463 – €77,666 (pro-rata for part-time)
• Contract Type: Specified Purpose – Part-time
