An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Medical) at Galway University Hospital. This permanent whole-time role is based in St Dominic’s Ward, providing a chance to lead and develop high-quality medical nursing services within a major acute teaching hospital. The role suits an experienced medical nurse ready to progress into senior clinical management.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical and professional leadership within the medical ward
• Manage nursing resources to deliver safe, effective, patient-centred care
• Support and supervise nursing staff, promoting professional development
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, clinical governance, and quality standards
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
• Participate in service planning, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Contribute to workforce planning, rostering, and performance management
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse on the live register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Significant post-registration experience in medical nursing
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of clinical and leadership experience relevant to the CNM2 role
• Strong communication, organisational, and people-management skills
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage change in a clinical environment
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary Scale: Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade 2119), in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025)
– Approx. €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (LSIs apply)
