Galway University Hospital is seeking motivated and compassionate Staff Nurses to join the Cardiology, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory teams. Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care within Cardiology, CCU, and Cardiac Cath Lab settings
• Monitor, assess, and document patients’ clinical conditions using recognised assessment tools
• Support diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures in line with clinical protocols
• Collaborate effectively with consultants, registrars, and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention, medication management, and patient safety standards
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding cardiac conditions and treatments
• Participate in audit, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Demonstrated interest or experience in cardiology, coronary care, or acute medical nursing
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute hospital environment
• Flexibility to work part-time or whole-time hours across various contract types
• Post-registration experience in cardiology or critical care is desirable but not essential
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Staff Nurse – General Grade (2135) pay scale, in accordance with national public sector agreements. Benefits include access to the public service pension scheme, annual leave entitlements, paid sick leave, and ongoing education and training opportunities. The HSE International Recruitment Relocation Package may apply to eligible candidates. Working hours vary depending on contract type and service requirements.
