Job Overview
The National HSE Library Service is recruiting a Grade V Senior Library Assistant to support research, evidence, and knowledge services within the health system. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality library and information services to healthcare professionals, contributing directly to evidence-based practice and service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver frontline library and information services to HSE staff
• Support literature searching, document supply, and reference enquiries
• Assist with cataloguing, classification, and management of library resources
• Support research and evidence functions across national services
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and reporting
• Supervise or support junior staff and day-to-day library operations
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience working in a library or information service environment
• Strong organisational, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to support research, evidence, and information retrieval activities
• Competence with library systems, databases, and digital resources
• Eligibility restricted to HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agency employees only

• Salary in line with HSE Grade V consolidated pay scales (Department of Health, August 2025 rates apply)
