Job Overview
The Health Service Executive is recruiting Drivers (Patients / Clients Public Roads) to support essential patient and client transport services across Dublin North. This role plays a vital part in ensuring safe, timely, and compassionate transport for service users accessing health and community care services.
There are two permanent whole-time vacancies currently available across Older Persons Services and Mental Health Services, with a panel also being formed for future vacancies.
Current Vacancies
• Older Persons Services – Lusk Community Unit, Dublin North County
• Dublin North City Mental Health Services – Transport Department, St Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park, Dublin North City & West
Key Responsibilities
• Safely transport patients and clients to and from healthcare facilities
• Assist passengers with mobility needs in a respectful and professional manner
• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy, clean, and well maintained
• Follow all HSE policies, road safety regulations, and infection control guidelines
• Complete journey logs and associated documentation accurately
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and families
• Respond appropriately to changes in schedules or service requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Full clean driving licence appropriate to the vehicle category
• Proven experience in a professional driving role (healthcare or public service desirable)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work with vulnerable individuals with empathy and discretion
• Knowledge of road safety and vehicle safety procedures
• Satisfactory Garda Vetting and occupational health clearance
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in line with HSE Driver (Patients / Clients Public Roads) Grade 6132 consolidated pay scale
• Rates are governed by national HSE salary scales effective 1 August 2025
• Permanent, pensionable public service role
