An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon to join the Orthopaedic Department at University Hospital Galway. This senior clinical role offers the chance to contribute to a high-volume tertiary service while shaping trauma and orthopaedic care across the West and North West region.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver consultant-level trauma and orthopaedic surgical care
• Participate in emergency trauma on-call rotas
• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Supervise and train NCHDs and specialist trainees
• Drive clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
• Contribute to service development and strategic planning
• Maintain high standards of patient safety and outcomes
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Register of the Irish Medical Council in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery (or eligibility)
• Fellowship or equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification
• Extensive experience in trauma and orthopaedic surgery at consultant or senior specialist level
• Strong leadership, teaching, and clinical governance experience
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in line with HSE Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon pay scales
• Permanent wholetime contract – 37 hours per week
