Portiuncula University Hospital is recruiting a Hospital Sterile Services Department (H.S.S.D) Operative to support the safe decontamination, preparation, and distribution of medical devices. This permanent whole-time role is vital to patient safety and infection prevention across clinical services.
Table of Contents
Responsibilities
• Decontaminate, assemble, pack, and sterilise surgical instruments and medical devices
• Operate and monitor sterilisation and washer-disinfector equipment
• Maintain accurate records and traceability documentation
• Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control policies
• Transport sterile and non-sterile items safely within the hospital
• Report equipment faults and quality issues promptly
• Work effectively as part of the H.S.S.D team to meet service demands
Requirements
• Leaving Certificate or equivalent (or relevant experience)
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and quality standards
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the role
• Experience in H.S.S.D or healthcare support services is desirable
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and continuous professional development
