An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior House Officer in Neonatology to join the neonatal team at University Hospital Limerick from January 2026. This role offers hands-on clinical exposure within a busy tertiary neonatal service while working as part of a multidisciplinary paediatric team.

The position is suitable for both HSE and non-HSE applicants seeking structured training, supervision, and experience in neonatal care within the Irish public health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day medical care to neonates in line with consultant-led plans
• Participate in ward rounds, admissions, discharges, and neonatal resuscitation
• Assist in the management of preterm and critically ill newborns
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic patient records
• Liaise closely with nursing staff, midwives, and allied health professionals
• Participate in on-call and rota commitments as required
• Engage in teaching, audit, and continuous professional development

Required Skills & Qualifications

• MB/BCh/BAO or equivalent medical qualification
• Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council
• Previous experience in paediatrics or neonatology is highly desirable
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland at the time of appointment

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (Senior House Officer)
• Approximate annual scale (from 1 August 2025): €54,203 – €74,133, depending on point of entry
• Paid annual leave, public service pension, and HSE training supports
• Full-time, rostered hours including on-call commitments
