University Hospital Limerick is currently recruiting for a permanent wholetime Chief Medical Scientist specializing in Histology. This is a senior leadership role within the Laboratory Services of the HSE Mid West region, offering an opportunity to manage high-level diagnostic services.
Salary: €81,560 – €117,193 (As per August 2025 Consolidated Pay Scales).
Role Overview
The successful candidate will lead the Histology department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality histopathological diagnostic services. You will be responsible for both technical excellence and the administrative management of the laboratory team.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience in Histopathological techniques, including microtomy and gross histology.
- Proficiency in tinctorial and Immunocytochemical methods.
- Demonstrated high standard of administrative and managerial ability.
- Eligibility for registration with CORU as a Medical Scientist.
- Leadership skills to manage a multi-disciplinary laboratory team.
