Mayo University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Oncology) to join its Medical Directorate on a permanent whole-time basis. This role offers an opportunity to deliver advanced, evidence-based oncology nursing care while contributing to service development within a multidisciplinary hospital setting. The post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialist clinical expertise in oncology nursing across inpatient and outpatient services
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in line with national oncology standards
• Act as a clinical resource and role model for nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues
• Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of oncology care pathways
• Support education, audit, and quality improvement initiatives within the oncology service
• Contribute to service development and implementation of best practice guidelines
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with HSE policies and procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of nursing experience in the specialist area of oncology
• Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to oncology practice
• Have undertaken or agree to undertake, within an agreed timeframe, the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate
• Have undertaken or agree to undertake, within an agreed timeframe, the Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation Certificate
• Strong clinical leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be in line with the HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Grade 2632 consolidated pay scales effective from 1 August 2025, including applicable increments and long service increments.
