University Hospital Kerry is seeking a Staff Grade Phlebotomist to join its clinical team. This permanent part-time role supports safe, timely blood collection services and contributes directly to patient diagnosis and care across the hospital.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Perform venepuncture and blood sample collection to clinical standards
• Accurately label, handle, and transport specimens
• Maintain infection prevention and control procedures
• Communicate effectively with patients to ensure comfort and consent
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Work collaboratively with laboratory and clinical staff
• Adhere to hospital policies, quality, and safety standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Recognised qualification/training in phlebotomy
• Demonstrated competence in venepuncture techniques
• Experience working in a healthcare or hospital environment (desirable)
• Strong interpersonal and patient-care skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: In line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales for Phlebotomist Grade 3425 (effective 1 August 2025)
• Working Hours: Part-time (rostered as per service needs)
