Ballina Minor Injuries Unit is seeking a Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (General) to join its Local Injury Unit team in County Mayo. This permanent, whole-time role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse to progress through the structured Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) development pathway while delivering high-quality emergency and injury care.
The post supports autonomous clinical practice, service development, and leadership within a busy injury care setting, aligned with national ANP governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with minor injuries
• Demonstrate advanced decision-making in emergency and injury care settings
• Work autonomously while collaborating closely with medical and multidisciplinary teams
• Contribute to clinical leadership, service improvement, and evidence-based practice
• Support education, mentoring, and clinical skill development within the unit
• Participate in audit, research, and quality assurance activities
• Adhere to HSE policies, professional standards, and clinical governance requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Nurse on the NMBI Register
• Significant post-registration experience, with demonstrated depth and breadth in emergency or injury care
• Eligibility and commitment to progress through the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (General) pathway
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities
• Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical excellence
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Candidate (General) (Code 2272)
• Salary Scale (from 1 August 2025): €70,725 – €79,872 per annum, depending on point of entry
• Contract: Permanent, Whole-Time

• Working hours in line with service requirements of the Minor Injuries Unit
