Cardiology Interventional Fellowship Limerick offers an excellent opportunity for eligible HSE employees to advance their specialist training within a leading acute teaching hospital. This July 2026 fellowship provides structured exposure to interventional cardiology within a high-volume tertiary setting at University Hospital Limerick.
This is an internal mobility opportunity under WRC Agreement 161867 and is open only to employees of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agencies.
Job Overview
The Cardiology Interventional Fellowship is a Fixed Term Wholetime Registrar (Grade 1538) post commencing July 2026. Based at University Hospital Limerick within HSE Mid West, the role supports advanced interventional cardiology services and contributes to high-quality patient-centred cardiovascular care.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in interventional cardiology procedures including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
• Provide clinical assessment and management of cardiology inpatients and outpatients
• Contribute to acute cardiology services including on-call commitments as required
• Work collaboratively with consultant cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with HSE governance standards
• Engage in teaching, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Current employment with HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 or statutory health agency (mandatory)
• Registration on the Specialist Division or General Division of the Medical Council of Ireland (as appropriate)
• Relevant experience in cardiology at Registrar level
• Demonstrated interest and experience in interventional cardiology
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Registrar (Grade 1538) payscale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025 revision) .
Registrar (Grade 1538) salary scale (effective 1 August 2025):
€68,891 – €81,126 per annum (depending on point of scale and service)
