An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist with a special interest in Liaison Psychiatry within Cavan Monaghan Mental Health Services, part of HSE Dublin and North East. This senior medical role offers the chance to provide expert psychiatric care across acute hospital and community settings while shaping liaison psychiatry services in the region.
This Specified Purpose, Wholetime contract is ideal for an experienced Consultant seeking meaningful clinical impact in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Consultant-level psychiatric assessment and treatment within General Adult and Liaison Psychiatry services
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering integrated mental health care
- Deliver specialist liaison psychiatry services to acute hospital settings
- Supervise and support NCHDs and other clinical staff
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and service development initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Mental Health legislation and HSE policies
- Contribute to on-call Consultant rotas as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a Specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland (Psychiatry)
- Demonstrated experience in General Adult Psychiatry
- Special interest and experience in Liaison Psychiatry
- Strong leadership and multidisciplinary team collaboration skills
- Excellent clinical decision-making and communication abilities
- Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the HSE Consultant salary scale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025) .
