Job Overview
The Lead Midwife in Parent Education (Clinical Midwife Manager 2) at St. Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny, plays a pivotal role in delivering and developing a comprehensive, evidence-based antenatal and post-natal education programme. This Lead Midwife in Parent Education Kilkenny role offers an opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Midwife Specialists, to enhance service quality and support families through every stage of their maternity journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary antenatal and post-natal parent education programme.
- Ensure classes and educational services are inclusive, participative and culturally sensitive.
- Collaborate with Midwife Specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based education.
- Support equitable access to services for diverse groups, including teenagers and members of ethnic minority communities.
- Develop educational multimedia resources, including video content and digital materials.
- Contribute to and enhance the St. Luke’s General Hospital eLearning hub.
- Monitor class sizes and programme effectiveness to maintain service quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
- Experience at Clinical Midwife Manager level or relevant senior midwifery experience.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in education, training or programme development within maternity services.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and culturally competent care.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (Grade Code 2132).
- Salary Scale (effective 1 February 2026): €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI) per annum in line with HSE consolidated pay scales.
- Contract Type: Specified Purpose, Wholetime.
