Job Overview

Portiuncula University Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Skills Facilitator Tissue Viability to join its nursing leadership team in Galway. This permanent wholetime opportunity is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient care standards and clinical education.

The successful candidate will support best practice in tissue viability and wound management while enhancing clinical skills development within the outpatient department and across relevant services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote evidence-based practice in tissue viability and wound care management.
  • Facilitate and deliver clinical skills training to nursing staff within the outpatient department.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives related to skin integrity and pressure injury prevention.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and mentorship to nursing teams.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate education programmes aligned with national guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Participate in audit, research, and service development activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registration as a Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) Grade Code 2632 eligibility.
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of post-registration experience in nursing practice.
  • Proven experience working within an outpatient department setting.
  • Specialist knowledge in tissue viability and wound care management.
  • Strong teaching, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead practice development initiatives and support continuous improvement.
