Job Overview

The Clinical Midwife Manager 2 Tipperary position offers an exciting leadership opportunity within the maternity services at Tipperary University Hospital. This role is central to ensuring the highest standards of safe, compassionate, and evidence-based maternity care.

As Shift Leader, you will manage and coordinate midwifery services, oversee clinical standards, and support staff development while ensuring optimal resource utilisation within the maternity unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate maternity services on a shift basis, ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Manage and allocate staff and resources effectively within the maternity unit.
  • Ensure compliance with national maternity care standards, HSE policies, and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Support, mentor, and supervise midwifery staff to promote professional development and best practice.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient pathways and positive outcomes.
  • Contribute to service planning, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Significant post-registration experience in maternity services.
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in maternity care relevant to a Clinical Midwife Manager 2 role.
  • Proven experience managing and coordinating resources and services within a clinical setting.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Salary Scale (February 2026): €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI) per annum, in line with HSE consolidated pay scales.
  • Public sector pension scheme and incremental salary progression.
