The HSE Mid West is seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Medical Oncologist to join the team at University Hospital Limerick. This permanent wholetime position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality cancer services across the Mid West region.
As a Consultant Medical Oncologist in Limerick, you will play a pivotal leadership role in advancing oncology care, supporting multidisciplinary collaboration, and shaping the future of cancer services within a dynamic and progressive healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive specialist oncology services in line with national and international best practice standards.
- Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to optimise patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Supervise, mentor, and support NCHDs and other clinical staff.
- Contribute to service planning, audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.
- Engage in research, teaching, and continuous professional development activities.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the relevant specialty.
- Significant experience in Medical Oncology at Consultant level or equivalent.
- Demonstrated expertise in the management of complex oncology cases.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to clinical excellence, research, and ongoing professional development.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.

- Salary in line with HSE Consultant Medical Oncologist Grade 1287 payscale, in accordance with February 2026 consolidated salary scales.
