Job Overview
The Director of Nursing Band 2 Regional Vaccination Programme role offers a senior leadership opportunity within the HSE West and North West Health Region. This position will lead and oversee the delivery, development and continuous improvement of immunisation and vaccination services across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.
This is a strategic nursing leadership post with responsibility for clinical governance, workforce development and quality assurance within the regional immunisation programme. One permanent wholetime vacancy currently exists, with a panel to be formed for future vacancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior nursing leadership for the Regional Vaccination and Immunisation Programme.
- Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of vaccination services across the North West.
- Lead the development and delivery of clinical education and training programmes.
- Ensure compliance with national immunisation guidelines and HSE governance frameworks.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives across vaccination services.
- Manage workforce planning, performance management and service optimisation.
- Collaborate with public health leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to regional strategic planning within the HSE health region implementation programme.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the NMBI register.
- Significant senior nursing leadership experience at management level.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in delivery of immunisation programmes.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing and evaluating clinical education and training programmes.
- Experience implementing quality improvement initiatives within the health service.
- Strong governance, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale: Director of Nursing Band 2 (Grade Code 2904).
- Salary Range (effective 1 February 2026): €89,121 – €104,199 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), in line with HSE consolidated pay scales.
- Contract Types: Permanent Wholetime, Permanent Part-time, Specified Purpose Wholetime, Specified Purpose Part-time.

Location & Employer Information
This position is within the HSE West and North West Health Region, covering Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal. The postholder will be based in either Letterkenny or Sligo HSE Offices, with the specific location agreed upon appointment.
