Job Overview
Sligo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Sligo professional to lead patient flow and bed management services within the hospital. This permanent wholetime position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and effective use of hospital bed capacity while supporting high standards of patient care.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient pathways, reduce delays, and enhance service delivery within a dynamic acute hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate patient flow and bed management processes across the hospital.
- Support the implementation of best practice frameworks for admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
- Collaborate with senior nursing and medical staff to optimise bed utilisation and capacity planning.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators relating to patient flow.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and national standards.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and professional support to nursing staff.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, and effective communication.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with active registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum required years of post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience at Clinical Nurse Manager level or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of patient flow systems, discharge planning, and capacity management.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
