Theatre Operative Cork University Hospital is an excellent opportunity to join a leading acute hospital within HSE South West. This permanent wholetime position plays a vital role in supporting surgical teams and ensuring the highest standards of patient care within the theatre environment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute directly to the smooth operation of theatre services, maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient clinical setting for patients and staff.

Job Overview

The Theatre Operative will support clinical staff in the Surgical Hub at Cork University Hospital by preparing theatre environments, handling equipment, and assisting with patient flow. The role is central to maintaining infection prevention standards and ensuring operating theatres are fully prepared for procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain operating theatres before, during, and after surgical procedures
  • Transport patients safely to and from theatre areas as required
  • Assist with positioning of patients under clinical supervision
  • Handle and manage theatre equipment and supplies
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards
  • Support nursing and medical staff in delivering safe and effective patient care
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock levels within theatre and recovery areas
  • Follow all HSE health and safety policies and procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant healthcare support qualification or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in a theatre or acute hospital environment desirable
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control principles
  • Commitment to patient dignity, safety, and confidentiality
