Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Paediatrics role at Sligo University Hospital offers an excellent opportunity to lead and develop paediatric nursing services within a dynamic acute hospital setting. This Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Paediatrics position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers strong career progression within the public health service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional and clinical leadership within the paediatric unit.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and child-centred nursing care.
- Supervise and support nursing and healthcare staff to maintain high standards of practice.
- Coordinate patient care delivery in line with HSE policies and clinical guidelines.
- Promote quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing, budgeting, and service planning.
- Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and national healthcare regulations.
- Contribute to staff education, mentorship, and professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse on the active register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum required post-registration experience in paediatric nursing.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of paediatric clinical governance and patient safety standards.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary scale: €62,078 – €78,443 per annum (Clinical Nurse Manager 2 scale, effective 1 February 2026).
