Job Overview
Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown is inviting applications for a Senior House Officer Emergency Medicine Dublin position for the July 2026 intake. This fixed term wholetime post offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience within a busy Emergency Department serving Dublin North and the wider HSE Dublin and North East region.
This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is ideal for doctors seeking structured clinical exposure, professional development, and hands-on experience in acute emergency care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide frontline medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute medical and surgical emergencies.
- Work collaboratively with Consultants, Registrars, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in clinical handovers, ward rounds, and case discussions.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within the department.
- Participate in on-call and shift rotas as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility for registration.
- Relevant clinical experience in Emergency Medicine or acute care settings.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale (February 2026): €54,745 – €74,874 per annum (Senior House Officer scale, point dependent).
- Incremental progression in line with HSE consolidated pay scales.
- Fixed Term Wholetime contract.
- Access to HSE pension scheme (subject to eligibility).
- Annual leave and public holiday entitlements in accordance with HSE policy.
- Structured supervision and training within a recognised teaching hospital environment.
