Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Portlaoise position in Ultrasonography offers an exciting opportunity to join Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise as part of HSE Dublin and Midlands. This specialist role focuses on Obstetric Ultrasound and Gynaecology services, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a dynamic maternity setting.
This permanent wholetime post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers the opportunity to develop advanced clinical expertise while contributing to service development and excellence in women’s healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing and midwifery care in Obstetric Ultrasound and Gynaecology.
- Perform and support advanced ultrasonography procedures within agreed clinical guidelines.
- Lead and support evidence-based practice initiatives within the maternity service.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
- Support clinical audit, quality improvement, and service development activities.
- Provide education and mentorship to nursing and midwifery colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with professional, regulatory, and HSE standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with relevant professional registration.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of Nursing/Midwifery experience in Obstetric Ultrasound and Gynaecology.
- Evidence of clinical expertise relevant to the specialist area.
- Have undertaken or agree to undertake the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate within an agreed timeframe.
- Have undertaken or agree to undertake the Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation Certificate within an agreed timeframe.
- Commitment to formally apply for entry onto the Interim ONMS Clinical Nurse Specialist / Clinical Midwife Specialist database.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
