Job Overview
The Senior Dietitian Renal Sligo role offers an excellent opportunity to join the Nutrition Support and Renal team at Sligo University Hospital. This permanent wholetime position is based within HSE West and North West and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice in delivering specialist nutrition support and renal dietetic services to patients. This is a key senior role contributing to multidisciplinary patient care and service development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist renal and nutrition support dietetic assessment and intervention.
- Deliver evidence-based nutritional care plans tailored to complex clinical needs.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across acute and specialist services.
- Lead and support service development initiatives within renal and nutrition support.
- Supervise, mentor and support junior dietetic staff and students where required.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and research activities.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE and professional standards.
- Contribute to policy development and best practice guidelines within the service.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Dietetics.
- Registration with CORU as a Dietitian (or eligibility for registration).
- Significant post-qualification clinical experience, including renal and nutrition support practice.
- Demonstrated high level of clinical expertise and evidence-based practice.
- Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Dietitian – Senior (Grade Code 3395).
- Salary: In line with HSE Senior Dietitian pay scale, adjusted in accordance with February 2026 public sector pay provisions.
- Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime.
