Job Overview
This Porter Job Louth opportunity offers a permanent wholetime position within HSE Dublin and North East. The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated portering team, supporting patient care services in a clean, safe, and risk-free hospital environment.
Reporting to the Portering Services Manager and relevant Ward or Departmental Manager, you will help ensure high-quality service delivery across hospital departments. A panel will be formed from this campaign to fill current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies across associated sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide efficient and professional portering services across designated hospital areas
- Transport patients safely between wards, departments, and diagnostic units
- Move equipment, medical supplies, and other items as required
- Support ward and departmental teams to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures
- Respond promptly to service requests and emergency calls
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and patient dignity at all times
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and time management abilities
- Awareness of health and safety standards in a healthcare setting
- Manual handling capability (training will be provided where required)
- Flexibility to work rotational shifts as required
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary Scale (effective 01 February 2026): €36,047 – €43,650 per annum
- New appointees start at the minimum point of the scale
- Incremental credit may apply for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011)

Location & Employer Information
This role is based in County Louth within HSE Dublin and North East. A panel will be formed to fill vacancies in:
- Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda
- Louth County Hospital, Dundalk
Posts are rotational in nature and may involve assignment across relevant hospital sites within the region.
