The Healthcare Assistant Sligo role at Sligo University Hospital offers an excellent opportunity to join a permanent wholetime position within the HSE West and North West region. This role is central to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting nursing staff in a dynamic hospital environment.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong experience in a healthcare setting such as a hospital, residential service, community setting, or nursing home, providing direct care to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to patients in line with care plans
- Assist nursing staff in the delivery of safe and effective clinical care
- Support patients with mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and daily living activities
- Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital policies
- Ensure infection prevention and control standards are maintained
- Promote dignity, respect, and person-centred care at all times
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in a healthcare environment providing direct patient care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Understanding of infection control and patient safety procedures
- Flexibility to work across various shifts as required
