Orchard Care Group is currently recruiting for a Health Care Assistant in Sligo to join its dedicated Residential Services team. This rewarding role places you at the heart of delivering person-centred support to children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.
As a Health Care Assistant Sligo team member, you will help build brighter futures by supporting daily routines, personal care, and meaningful social engagement while working within HIQA regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist children and adults with daily activities and personal care as outlined in their individual Care Plans
- Support social interaction and community participation both individually and in group settings
- Act as an advocate for the individuals and families, ensuring dignity, respect and inclusion
- Maintain accurate records and participate in communication processes including team meetings and staff forums
- Carry out household duties and administrative tasks as required within the residential setting
- Ensure safe use and handling of equipment in line with organisational policies
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Work flexibly across a rolling roster including sleep-ins and waking night duties
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualification or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities
- Knowledge and understanding of complex needs
- Full manual driving licence with eligibility to drive in Ireland (mandatory)
- Eligibility to live and work in Ireland without restriction
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to high standards of care and HIQA compliance
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary: €39,290–€44,293 per year
This position operates on a rolling roster providing 24-hour support, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Shifts include nights as required, sleep-ins and waking night duties. Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet service needs.
