Job Overview
The Domestic Attendant (Oibrí Tí) role at Sligo University Hospital offers an opportunity to contribute directly to patient care by maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic healthcare environment. This position plays a vital role in supporting clinical teams and ensuring high standards of cleanliness across the hospital.
This supplementary campaign is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers a variety of contract types, including part-time and full-time opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout assigned hospital areas
- Perform routine cleaning duties including floors, surfaces, and sanitary facilities
- Ensure infection prevention and control guidelines are followed at all times
- Handle cleaning equipment and materials safely and effectively
- Support waste management and disposal procedures in line with hospital policies
- Respond promptly to cleaning requests and emergencies
- Work collaboratively with healthcare staff to maintain a safe environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous cleaning or domestic experience (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene standards
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of infection control practices (training may be provided)
- Flexibility to work across different shifts and contract types
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €35,082 – €41,283 per annum (pro rata for part-time roles)
Working hours will vary depending on contract type and may include part-time, full-time, and specified purpose roles. Employees benefit from HSE terms including annual leave, pension scheme, and opportunities for training and development.
