The First Line Support Technician (On-Bus Systems) role with Bus Éireann offers a hands-on opportunity to support critical onboard technology across Ireland’s public transport network. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for depot staff reporting onboard equipment issues
  • Perform troubleshooting tasks such as device resets, configuration updates, and diagnostics
  • Ensure ticket machines and onboard systems are fully operational before daily deployment
  • Replace faulty equipment, SIM cards, and maintain accurate tracking records
  • Monitor dashboards and alerts (e.g. ServiceNow) to identify and address recurring issues
  • Carry out routine health checks, audits, and software updates on onboard systems
  • Maintain logs of equipment performance, faults, and replacements
  • Collaborate with maintenance, IT, operations teams, and external suppliers

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong practical ability in troubleshooting and basic repair of electronic or onboard systems
  • Comfortable using laptops, diagnostic tools, and software systems
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a methodical approach
  • Clear communication skills for working with drivers and operational teams
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities effectively
  • Full, clean Category B driving licence with flexibility to travel between depots
  • Experience in technical support or transport operations is desirable
  • Qualification in electrical, mechanical, or related technical field is an advantage

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

This permanent First Line Support Technician role offers a competitive salary ranging from €40,000 to €50,000 per year, depending on experience and performance.

  • 5 over 7 working pattern starting from 5:00 AM
  • Typically one Sunday in every four required
