Job Overview

The successful candidate will work as a contracted GMS GP providing comprehensive primary medical services to the local population in Banada and surrounding communities. The role involves delivering high-quality clinical care, preventative healthcare services, chronic disease management, and patient advocacy within a well-established HSE-supported environment.

As part of HSE West and North West, the successful applicant will contribute to integrated healthcare delivery across Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway while supporting improved patient outcomes and community wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive general practice and primary care medical services to patients under the GMS Scheme
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Deliver preventative healthcare services, screenings, and health promotion initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records in line with HSE standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and community care teams
  • Participate in ongoing clinical governance, quality improvement, and professional development activities
  • Support continuity of care and effective patient referral pathways
  • Ensure compliance with Medical Council regulations and relevant HSE policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registration with the Irish Medical Council in the General Practitioner Division or eligibility for registration
  • Relevant experience working within general practice or primary care settings
  • Strong clinical decision-making and patient assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of HSE procedures, governance, and healthcare standards is desirable
