Beaumont Hospital is seeking an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician to join its specialist medical team in Dublin North. Job Overview

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-led gastroenterology and general medical services across Beaumont Hospital while supporting clinical excellence, patient safety, and ongoing healthcare innovation. This permanent Consultant role provides an opportunity to influence patient outcomes, mentor junior medical staff, and support the continued growth of gastroenterology services in Dublin North.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Consultant-level gastroenterology and general physician services in line with HSE and Beaumont Hospital standards
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for patients with complex gastroenterology and general medical conditions
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborative clinical decision-making
  • Support service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior doctors and wider clinical teams
  • Contribute to teaching, research, and continuous professional development programmes
  • Participate in on-call and emergency care rotas as required
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Registration or eligibility for registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland
  • Relevant higher specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine
  • Proven Consultant-level clinical experience in gastroenterology and general medicine
  • Strong leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence
  • Experience in medical teaching, research, and service development is desirable
  • Excellent organisational and decision-making abilities within a busy acute hospital environment
