Job Overview

The Occupational Therapist, Staff Grade panel will support current and future vacancies across HSE Mid West services including Acute Hospitals, Primary Care, Older Persons Services, Adult Mental Health, CAMHS, Disability Services, and Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs). Positions may be offered on a whole-time or part-time basis and may include permanent or specified purpose contracts.

Occupational Therapists play a vital role in improving patient independence, wellbeing, and quality of life through assessment, rehabilitation, therapeutic intervention, and collaborative multidisciplinary care planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ functional, physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs across a variety of clinical settings
  • Develop and implement individualised occupational therapy treatment plans
  • Support service users in achieving maximum independence and quality of life
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with HSE standards
  • Provide education, advice, and support to patients, families, and carers
  • Participate in service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives
  • Promote safe and evidence-based occupational therapy practice throughout assigned services

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Eligibility for registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and clinical reasoning abilities
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development
  • Occupational Therapy students graduating in 2026 are eligible to apply
  • Experience within acute, community, disability, mental health, or primary care settings is desirable

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary will be aligned with HSE pay scales for Staff Grade Occupational Therapists and public sector employment terms.
