The Role
The Staff Nurse / Enhanced Nurse will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to residents and service users, working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team. The post offers genuine scope to influence individual care plans, lead on clinical standards, and contribute to a service that prioritises the rights and choices of every person supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred nursing care to adults with intellectual disabilities in line with NMBI standards and Corlann policies.
- Develop, implement, and review individual care and support plans in partnership with service users, families, and the wider team.
- Administer medications safely and maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records.
- Promote independence, community inclusion, and positive risk-taking in daily living and recreational activities.
- Work collaboratively with social care staff, allied health professionals, and external agencies.
- Support safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and health and safety practices across the service.
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement, audit, and service development.
Requirements
- Be a Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse (RNID) on the live register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Hold a current annual NMBI registration at the time of appointment and maintain it throughout employment.
- Demonstrate the clinical knowledge and interpersonal skills required to fulfil the duties of the post.
- Be in a state of health that enables full performance of the role.
- Be of good character.
- For appointment at Enhanced Nurse level, candidates must meet the additional criteria set out under the Department of Health framework for Enhanced Nurse posts.
Salary
Staff Nurse (Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse), Grade Code 213T: €37,788 – €54,412 per annum (HSE Staff Nurse scale, 13-point scale, plus LSI where applicable).
Enhanced Nurse (Intellectual Disability), Grade Code 2284: €44,811 – €56,200 per annum (HSE Enhanced Nurse scale, 9-point scale, plus LSI where applicable).
Figures based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. As this is a Section 38 funded post advertised on behalf of a publicly funded organisation, the terms and conditions may differ from those of the HSE.
