HSE West and North West is recruiting a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to deliver expert clinical care across Sligo, South Donegal, Leitrim and West Cavan. This is a senior, autonomous role for an experienced therapist ready to shape services, mentor colleagues and make a measurable difference to patients and service users across the region. The post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
About the Role
As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide advanced assessment, diagnosis and intervention, working at the top of your clinical scope while supporting the development of less experienced staff and contributing to service planning. Posts are available on a Permanent Wholetime and Specified Purpose Wholetime basis, offering both long-term security and project-focused opportunities.
Recruitment Panels
Senior posts will be recruited from one of the following panels, or from a blended panel. Applicants must indicate on their application form which panel they wish to interview for, and are welcome to apply for multiple panels depending on their experience to date.
- Area 1 — Adult Acquired, incorporating Older Persons
- Area 2 — Mental Health, incorporating Child and Adult Mental Health
- Area 3 — Paediatrics / Primary Care
- Area 4 — Disability: Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Physical and Sensory Disability
Please note that all adult Speech and Language Therapy posts require dysphagia training and qualification.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and current CORU registration.
- Substantial post-qualification clinical experience appropriate to a senior-level appointment.
- Dysphagia training and qualification for any adult-focused post.
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication and team-working skills, with the ability to mentor and support colleagues.
- A clear indication on your application of the panel (or panels) you wish to be considered for.
Salary
€64,551 – €76,007 per annum (HSE Speech and Language Therapist, Senior scale, 9-point scale), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. Incremental progression applies in line with HSE policy.
Location and Working Environment
This role is based across the HSE West and North West region, spanning Sligo, South Donegal, Leitrim and West Cavan. You will work across a varied mix of community and clinical settings, supporting service users at every life stage from paediatrics to older persons. It is a setting where a senior therapist’s expertise has genuine reach, influencing care pathways and outcomes across a large and diverse catchment area while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary colleagues.
