Mayo University Hospital is currently recruiting a permanent, whole-time Staff Nurse to join its Intensive Care Unit. About the Role
As a Staff Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Mayo University Hospital, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced and clinically demanding environment. You will work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to patient safety, clinical outcomes, and the continuous development of ICU nursing practice.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate depth and breadth of post-registration nursing experience relevant to the role of ICU Staff Nurse in acute nursing.
Key Requirements
- Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland).
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of post-registration nursing experience relevant to the ICU Staff Nurse role in an acute setting.
- Have the clinical competencies and professional commitment required to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care in an intensive care environment.
Location
This post is based at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, Co. Mayo — the principal acute hospital serving the West of Ireland and a key facility within the HSE West and North West health region, covering Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of acute and specialist services and is supported by a strong nursing and multidisciplinary team across all directorates.
Contract
Permanent, Whole-time.
Salary
€37,788 – €56,032 per annum (HSE Staff Nurse — General scale, 13-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026.
