Mayo University Hospital is recruiting a permanent, full-time Staff Nurse to join its Ambulatory Gynaecology service. This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse to build specialist experience in a busy acute hospital setting in the West of Ireland, contributing directly to the quality of care delivered to gynaecology patients across County Mayo.
The Role
Working within the Ambulatory Gynaecology unit, the successful candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients attending for assessment, treatment, and follow-up. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate depth and breadth of nursing experience relevant to the care of patients in this specialist area, while working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to best outcomes.
Key Requirements
- Be registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or be entitled to be so registered.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of nursing experience relevant to caring for patients in the context of this role.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy acute hospital environment.
- Strong commitment to patient-centred, compassionate care and continuous professional development.

Mayo University Hospital is a major acute hospital serving the population of County Mayo and the surrounding region. It operates under HSE West and North West, one of Ireland’s largest health regions covering Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway. The hospital provides a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services and serves as a vital centre of clinical excellence for the West of Ireland.
Salary
€37,788 – €56,032 per annum (HSE Staff Nurse scale, 13-point scale, plus LSIs where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026.
Contract
Permanent, Wholetime.
