  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within an agreed scope of practice under clinical supervision.
  • Work toward the fulfillment of NMBI requirements for registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across emergency and acute care services.
  • Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, and quality assurance within the department.
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Engage in ongoing education, reflective practice, and evidence-based learning as part of the ANP candidate programme.

Requirements

Candidates should refer to the full Job Specification (available for download below) for the complete eligibility criteria. As a guide, applicants will generally be required to demonstrate:

  • Current registration on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by NMBI.
  • Relevant post-registration experience in emergency, acute, or a related clinical area.
  • Evidence of or progress toward a relevant postgraduate qualification at Level 9 (or above) on the National Framework of Qualifications.
  • A commitment to developing toward autonomous advanced nursing practice within the defined ANP framework.

Salary & Contract

This is a permanent, wholetime post. The salary for this role is aligned to the HSE Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Candidate (General) scale (Grade 2272):

€71,432 – €80,671 per annum (HSE Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Candidate (General) scale, 6-point scale)

Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026.
