A permanent, whole-time Clinical Optometrist vacancy has arisen with HSE Dublin and South East, based at Clonmel Community Care Centre in Tipperary South. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced optometrist to deliver a meaningful community eyecare service across primary care settings in the south-east region.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be based at Clonmel Community Care Centre and will deliver optometry services across a number of locations, including Cashel Primary Care Centre. The post is situated within Primary Care Services Tipperary South, forming part of the broader HSE Dublin and South East health region.
A panel may be formed from this campaign for the grade of Clinical Optometrist, from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled across HSE Dublin and South East. The lifespan of any panel formed is subject to the ongoing restructuring within the HSE.
Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Optometrist will be expected to demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in optometry as relevant to the role, providing high-quality, patient-centred eyecare services within a primary care framework. Salary & Contract
Contract: Permanent Wholetime
Salary: €64,551 – €73,203 per annum (HSE Optometrist, Clinical scale, 7-point incremental scale, plus Long Service Increments of €74,758 and €76,007 where applicable). Based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026.

The post is based at Clonmel Community Care Centre, Co. Tipperary, with service delivery extending to Cashel Primary Care Centre and other locations within the Tipperary South area. Clonmel is the largest inland town in Ireland and serves as the administrative centre of Co. Tipperary, offering strong transport links and a well-established primary care infrastructure.
