The Cheshire Foundation in Ireland is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Disability) based in Sligo Town. This is a specified purpose, part-time post covering maternity leave, offering an experienced nurse the opportunity to step into a meaningful leadership role within a respected disability services organisation.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 will provide frontline nursing leadership within The Cheshire Foundation’s disability services in Sligo. The post holder will supervise nursing and care staff, maintain high standards of person-centred care, and support the operational management of the service during the cover period. This is a part-time, specified purpose contract covering maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day management of nursing staff within the disability service.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with organisational and regulatory standards.
- Support and supervise nursing and care staff, promoting professional development and accountability.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to care planning and review processes.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, families, and external agencies to coordinate care effectively.
- Contribute to risk management, incident reporting, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as a resource and support to staff in clinical decision-making.
Requirements
- Be registered in the Intellectual Disability division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or hold a relevant nursing qualification recognised for this setting.
- Have a minimum of one year’s post-registration management experience, or have successfully completed a recognised management development programme.
- Demonstrate clinical competence and experience in disability or related care settings.
- Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to person-centred care and the rights of people with disabilities.
Salary
€57,780 – €68,046 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours), based on the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (General) scale (Grade 2127), 8-point scale. No Long Service Increments apply to this grade. Rates are based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.

This post is based in Sligo Town, within The Cheshire Foundation in Ireland’s disability services in the HSE West and North West region. The Cheshire Foundation provides supported living and residential services for adults with physical and complex disabilities across Ireland, with this Sligo-based team delivering care directly within the community.
