Orchard Care Group is hiring a Health Care Assistant in Sligo to join their dedicated residential services team. About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a central role in the day-to-day support and care of residents within Orchard’s specialist residential services. Working as part of a dedicated and innovative team, you will assist with daily activities, personal care, household tasks, and administrative duties — all in line with HIQA regulations and standards. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and working hours are structured on a rolling roster shift basis, including sleep-ins and waking night duty as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the care and activities of children and adults as directed by the Manager and in line with each person’s integrated Care Plan, ensuring a consistently high standard of support.
  • Recognise and respect each individual’s unique needs, ensuring that the person and their family’s comfort and wellbeing are always prioritised.
  • Act as an advocate for the people you support and their families, providing appropriate information and practical assistance.
  • Develop and encourage social interaction for the people supported, both individually and in group settings.
  • Ensure safe use and handling of all relevant equipment in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Participate actively in all communication processes including team meetings, staff forums, and email correspondence.
  • Provide personal care to residents as required, with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the organisation and the people it supports.
  • Work flexibly across shift patterns to meet the operational needs of the service.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualification or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
  • Knowledge of supporting adults or children with complex needs.
  • Full manual driving licence, with eligibility to drive in Ireland.
  • Must be eligible to live and work in Ireland without restriction.

Salary

€39,290 – €44,293 per annum. Premium rates apply for Sunday and Bank Holiday shifts.
