St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny is recruiting a Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (Shift Leader) on a permanent, wholetime basis. This is a pivotal leadership role within the Midwifery service, offering the opportunity to drive quality care, support your team, and contribute to service development across day and night duty.
About the Role
The Clinical Midwife Manager 2 / Shift Leader holds a central role in the planning, co-ordination, and management of activity and resources within the clinical area. The post holder will lead the Midwifery team while rostered on duty and will rotate between day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Midwifery team during rostered shifts, covering both day and night duty
- Oversee quality assurance processes within the clinical area
- Manage resources effectively to meet service needs
- Support staffing planning and staff development initiatives
- Drive practice development and embed evidence-based care
- Facilitate clear communication across the team and with wider stakeholders
- Provide professional and clinical leadership throughout each shift
Requirements and Qualifications

Salary
€62,699 – €74,123 per annum (HSE Clinical Midwife Manager 2 scale, 11-point scale, plus two Long Service Increments). Based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Placement on the scale is in accordance with HSE pay policy.
