HSE West and North West is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 3 (Intellectual Disability) to lead nursing services at Cregg Services, Rosses Point, Co. Sligo. This is a senior management role within Community Healthcare Sligo Leitrim, offering the opportunity to shape the delivery of person-centred care for people with intellectual disabilities across the Sligo and Leitrim region.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 3 will provide clinical leadership, operational management, and professional governance across intellectual disability nursing services at Cregg Services. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in line with HSE policies and national standards. A panel may be formed from this campaign for Intellectual Disability Services in Sligo and Leitrim, from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and care staff within the intellectual disability service.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care in compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage resources effectively, including staff rostering, workforce planning, and performance management.
- Lead on quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and service development within the team.
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development among nursing and support staff.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, service users, families, and external agencies to support integrated service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and contribute to service planning as required by the Director of Nursing.
Requirements
- Be registered in the Intellectual Disability Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or be entitled to be so registered.
- Have a minimum of 7 years post-registration nursing experience (or an aggregate of 7 years), of which at least 3 years must be in management/supervisory capacity in the relevant care setting.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in Intellectual Disability Nursing as relevant to the role — this is a post-specific requirement.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills appropriate to a senior nursing management post.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland at the time of application.
Salary
€72,146 – €81,478 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 3 (General) scale, 6-point scale). Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 (DoH Circular 2/2026). Pay for part-time or specified purpose part-time posts is pro-rata for hours worked.
Location
Cregg Services, Rosses Point, Co. Sligo, within Community Healthcare Sligo Leitrim. Cregg Services is a HSE-operated residential and day service for people with intellectual disabilities. The post holder will work within the wider HSE West and North West region, which spans Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway.
Contract Type
Permanent Wholetime, Permanent Part-time, Specified Purpose Wholetime, or Specified Purpose Part-time. One permanent full-time vacancy is currently available. A panel will be formed for future vacancies of varying durations and hours.
