St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network (SLRON), Dublin South, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Radiation Oncology and Lymphoedema (Grade 2632) on a specified purpose wholetime basis. This is an open competition, available to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Role Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will provide specialist nursing care within the Radiation Oncology and Lymphoedema service at St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network. The post holder will deliver expert clinical assessment, evidence-based intervention, and patient education, contributing to the full continuum of care for patients undergoing radiation oncology treatment and those experiencing or at risk of lymphoedema.

Key Responsibilities

The following key responsibilities are typical of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) grade. Full details will be provided in the candidate information booklet available on Rezoomo:

  • Provide specialist clinical assessment and nursing intervention for patients within the radiation oncology and lymphoedema service
  • Act as the expert clinical resource for nursing staff, multidisciplinary team members, and patients in relation to radiation oncology and lymphoedema management
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based clinical guidelines and care pathways
  • Deliver patient and carer education in relation to treatment side effects, self-management, and lymphoedema care
  • Maintain a caseload and coordinate the management of complex patient presentations
  • Contribute to audit, quality improvement, and research activities within the service
  • Liaise with community, primary care, and voluntary sector services to ensure continuity of care
  • Participate in the professional development and supervision of nursing staff

Requirements

Candidates must, on the closing date, meet the requirements for the Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) grade as set out by the HSE. Full eligibility criteria will be detailed in the candidate information booklet. Typically required:

  • Current registration on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) in the relevant division(s)
  • A minimum of 1 year post-registration full-time experience (or equivalent) in a specialist area relevant to this post
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in the specialist area, or evidence of having commenced same, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Salary

This post is remunerated at the HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) – Grade 2632 pay scale, effective 1 June 2026:

€62,699 – €79,227 per annum (11-point scale, inclusive of all increments)

A Long Service Increment (LSI) of €79,227 applies upon meeting the qualifying criteria.

As this post is based in a Cancer/Oncology Unit, the holder may also be eligible for the Location Allowance of €2,798 per annum (effective 1 June 2026), subject to the conditions set out in HSEA Circular 112/99 and DoH Circular 14/2019. Confirm applicability with HR on appointment.
