Nazareth Care Ireland is recruiting a Housekeeping Supervisor to join the team at Nazareth House in Sligo. This is a permanent, full-time dual role combining hands-on housekeeping duties with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and comfort are maintained throughout a residential care setting.
About the Role
As Housekeeping Supervisor, you will play a central role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents — always mindful that Nazareth House is their home. You will combine direct housekeeping duties with team leadership, scheduling, and quality assurance responsibilities, reporting to the Director of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities
General Housekeeping
- Clean and maintain sitting rooms, lounges, corridors, and entrance areas, including dusting, vacuuming, damp wiping surfaces, screens, and telephones
- Clean and maintain the Nurse’s Station, including wash-hand basin, surfaces, computer equipment, and floors
- Clean bathrooms, toilets, and sluice areas using appropriate disinfectants and cleaning products; maintain grab rails, taps, fixtures, and fittings
- Clean residents’ bedrooms daily: dust, sweep/vacuum, mop floors, and elevate electric profiling beds
- Replenish toilet roll, paper towel, and soap dispensers as required
- Maintain the residents’ designated smoking area, emptying ashtrays and cleaning surrounding areas
- Dispose of fresh flowers and replace water; empty domestic waste throughout the facility
- Carry out weekly high-dusting and quarterly shower curtain cleaning schedules
Supervisory Duties
- Prepare and manage staff rosters to ensure adequate housekeeping coverage at all times
- Supervise housekeeping staff in the completion of daily and weekly cleaning tasks
- Ensure cleaning schedules are completed, signed, and properly maintained
- Carry out regular audits of housekeeping standards throughout the facility
- Provide guidance, support, and on-the-job training to housekeeping staff
- Maintain stock levels of cleaning materials and equipment
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and infection control policies
Requirements
- Previous experience in a housekeeping role, ideally within a healthcare or residential care environment
- Supervisory experience or a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team
- Sound knowledge of infection control and health and safety requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage rosters and cleaning schedules
- A respectful, person-centred approach to working in a residents’ home environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy, regulated setting
Salary
€15.00–€15.75 per hour.
