HSE Dublin and North East is recruiting a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist (Fisiteiripeoir, Speisialtóir Cliniciúil) to join its Primary Care Paediatrics service in Dublin North, with a focus on Motor Management. This is a permanent, whole-time post offering an excellent opportunity to lead specialist physiotherapy practice at an advanced clinical level within a community paediatric setting.

About the Role

The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Motor Management, Primary Care Paediatrics will operate at the highest clinical level within the physiotherapy profession, providing expert assessment, intervention, and consultation for children with complex motor difficulties. Working within the Community Healthcare Network in Dublin North, the post-holder will provide clinical leadership, drive service development, and contribute to evidence-based practice in paediatric motor management.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, your responsibilities will typically include:

  • Providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and evidence-based intervention for children with complex motor difficulties within Primary Care Paediatrics.
  • Acting as a clinical resource and consultant to physiotherapy colleagues, multidisciplinary teams, and other services within the network.
  • Leading and contributing to service development, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives within the area of motor management.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating specialist clinical pathways, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Providing clinical supervision and support to physiotherapy staff and students.
  • Participating in relevant research, education, and training activities at a local and national level.
  • Liaising with families, carers, schools, and other stakeholders to support the child’s overall care and participation goals.
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of health promotion and prevention programmes aligned with paediatric motor management.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates for this post will typically be required to demonstrate:

  • CORU registration as a Physiotherapist (or eligibility to register).
  • A recognised physiotherapy degree qualification.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in paediatric physiotherapy, with demonstrable expertise in motor management.
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge, skills, and clinical competence appropriate to Clinical Specialist grade.
  • Experience of clinical leadership, service development, and multidisciplinary working.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent evidence of specialist practice may be required — refer to the Job Specification for confirmed requirements.

Salary

This post is remunerated on the HSE Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist scale (Grade 3707), a 9-point incremental scale ranging from €72,119 to €83,689 per annum, based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 (DoH Circular 2/2026). There are no Long Service Increments attached to this grade.

Location

The post is based in Dublin North, within the HSE Dublin and North East region. The successful candidate will work as part of the Community Healthcare Network covering North Dublin, delivering Primary Care Paediatrics services across the catchment area. The role operates within an integrated community care model, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and local services to support children and families in their communities.
