Role Overview

- Provide personal care assistance to residents, including support with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and continence care, in accordance with individual care plans.
- Assist residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate manual handling techniques and assistive equipment.
- Support residents at mealtimes, including meal preparation and, where required, feeding assistance.
- Administer medication as directed and within the scope of the care support worker role, following organisational policy and relevant competency frameworks.
- Implement individual care plans under the direction and supervision of nursing staff.
- Promote and uphold the rights, dignity, privacy, and autonomy of all residents at all times.
- Support residents to participate in social, recreational, and community activities in line with their personal goals.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records of care delivered and report any changes in a resident’s condition or wellbeing to nursing staff promptly.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and therapeutic living environment, adhering to infection prevention and control procedures.
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in mandatory training, supervision, and continuing professional development as required.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the person in charge appropriate to the grade.
Requirements and Qualifications

- QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support or a related discipline, or willingness to undertake this qualification.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, disability services, or social care setting is desirable.
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively with adults with physical disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to person-centred care.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to exercise initiative when working independently.
- Flexibility to work relief hours across day, evening, night, and weekend shifts as required by the service.
- Manual handling training, or willingness to undertake same.

Salary
The Cheshire Foundation in Ireland is a Section 39 organisation and operates independently of HSE consolidated salary scales.
