University Hospital Limerick is seeking applications for the position of Director of Nursing 1 Assistant to join the Surgical HUB within HSE Mid West Acute Services. Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide professional nursing leadership within the Surgical HUB, supporting the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of patient services. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the Director of Nursing 1 Assistant will help ensure that clinical governance, quality standards, workforce development, and patient safety remain central to service delivery across University Hospital Limerick.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing leadership and operational support within the Surgical HUB.
- Promote excellence in patient care, quality improvement, and clinical governance.
- Support workforce planning, staff development, and performance management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve service objectives.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.

Salary
€72,843 – €85,485 per annum (HSE Assistant Director of Nursing (Band 1 Hospitals) Grade 2910 salary scale, 9-point scale, plus Long Service Increment to €89,894 where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
